Advertising policy

Current status

No ads are displayed and no ad requests are sent. AdSense will be enabled through a separate release gate only after Google approval and configuration and four-language testing of a Google-certified IAB TCF v2.3 CMP.

Labelling and separation

Ads are visually separated from the article text and carry a label identifying them as advertising.

Placement

No interstitial or vignette ads are used at launch. Ads are not placed where they block reading or interfere with navigation.

Consent management

For traffic that requires a consent notice, including the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, choices are presented through a Google-certified IAB TCF v2.3 CMP. The site’s local preference control is not that CMP. No ad request is sent if an adequate consent interface is unavailable in the relevant language; where it is available, the choices recorded by the CMP are followed.

Editorial independence

Ad revenue does not decide which programs we cover or how we write about them. Advertisers have no involvement in editorial content.

Data we never share

Finder answers and the content of your emails are never passed to advertising or analytics.

What ad revenue means

Ad income covers the running costs of the site. It has no effect on any application or its outcome.

Non-personalized ads

Medical costs, unemployment, housing hardship and foreign-resident context can reveal or imply sensitive information. If ads are enabled, every supported ad page requests non-personalized ads. Profile- and behavior-based personalization is disabled, but page content or context, the requested URL, IP address, coarse location, cookies, web beacons and other identifiers may still be used for contextual selection, frequency control, measurement, aggregate reporting, security and fraud prevention.
